ABOIOS (2020 – work in progress)
Aboios is a serie of short video pieces that are presented as appendices or footnotes to the film O Gemer and the research project carried out by its director over the last decade. If the film makes a historical review of the now practically disappeared traditions of what is known as “cart singing”, the series of videos that conform Aboios shows the traces that survive of that culture today. The series takes its title from a singing tradition practiced by cattle drivers in Brazil during their long journeys. A song that is precisely performed in conjunction with the soud of the oxcarts.
